Intro to Art Therapy

A weekend workshop for professionals

This workshop is designed for counsellors and therapists who with to safely incorporate Art Therapy techniques into their client sessions. Plus the opportunity to earn some CPD points with ACA.

Day one is a deep dive into Art Therapy media, after an introduction into the core principals of Art Therapy. 


Day two we look at symbols and metaphor and how we incorporate these into a session. You will see a demonstration of a session and then have the opportunity to facilitate a session and experience being a client.

​

 It will also provide a solid understanding of Art Therapy techniques and the theories that underpin them and will give everyone an experience of facilitating a session and experience as an Art Therapy client.

​

You will receive a certificate of completion of the course and it can be claimed as 6 OPD ACA points.

When: 21/22 November 2026

Where: Tamborine Village, South East Queensland.

Cost: $550 Earlybird $500 (if paid by Friday 30th October) 

Limited to 6 participants. Morning tea provided, please bring your own lunch.

Jen Chester is an experienced Arts Therapist, having worked in clinical practice and also lectured in Arts Therapy at the Ikon Institute for 7 years at Advanced Diploma, Graduate Diploma and Bachelor levels.

She initially trained at Ikon in the transpersonal Art Therapy model established by Dr. Raphael Locke, an anthropologist, psychoanalyst, consciousness researcher and initiated Iroquois shaman, then lectured at Ikon as the course transformed into a more clinical model, rounding out her training at UQ with the Masters of Mental Health, Art Therapy major. 

​She combines the transpersonal and clinical models into a holistic trauma informed  experiential psychotherapeutic approach utilising a range of creative modalities.
