The Wild Edge of Sorrow
Retreat*

Sunday October 12th
9.30-3.30pm

I don't know exactly what a prayer is.

I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down

into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,

how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,

which is what I have been doing all day.

Tell me, what else should I have done?

Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?

Tell me, what is it you plan to do

with your one wild and precious life?

—Mary Oliver

Wherever grief comes from, loss of a loved one, life transitions (menopause, empty nest, divorce etc.), ancestral grief or the sorrows of the world, it's based in love. This is a day of honouring that love and thereby honouring the loss, in a safe space, shared with a small group and the therapy herd.

An intimate day retreat offering for those who wish to honour a loss, whether it be a life transition, loss of a loved one, loss of faith, a chronic illness, anything that necessitates us stepping away from the known into the new and unknown.

This day retreat is an opportunity to connect to horses and nature in a safe space and is dedicated to self-reflection and exploration of love and  grief, incorporating meditation, creative art therapy, ritual and paddock time with the therapy horses.

Ritual can open us up to a vast and more enchanted world, it can help us accept the transcendent and move into a new way of being. You will develop your own ritual working with art materials, music, movement and nature, it can be personal or involve the other participants.
Jen is an experienced facilitator, holding a safe space to explore emotions and helping create rituals tailored to individual needs. The team of therapy horses respond to human emotions with empathy and without judgement, the silent acknowledgement is powerful.
The day will be broken up with a shared lunch when there will also be time for silent contemplation.

Each participant will have the opportunity to create their own personalised ritual, in nature, with art materials, symbols, music or movement, and to spend time with one or more horses from the herd.

The day is facilitated by Jen Chester, Creative Arts Therapist and Equine Assisted Therapist and Elena Panos, Reiki, energy and sound healer.
